Rabeya Khatoon is an interdisciplinary and graphic designer. Her practice is focused on narration through storytelling, using different methods of communication such as typography, image making, and product design.
Rabeya graduated with a Master’s (MFA) in Interdisciplinary Design Studies and a Bachelor’s (BFA) in Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar. As a resident of Qatar for over two decades, she has developed a unique culture through her experience growing up in multiple cultures. Rabeya’s research and creative work encompass photographs, prints, and artifacts that celebrate diversity in different contexts. Her design process merges the digital and analog processes of making, through different mediums.
Her work has been exhibited at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall, St. Petersburg – Russia (2018), Istanbul Design Biennale, Istanbul – Turkey (2018), Kraftwerk, Berlin – Germany (2017) Art29 Gallery W hotel, Doha – Qatar (2015), Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (2019) and VCUQatar. As a graphic designer, she has experience working with several companies and clients in Qatar.
She has collaborated with artisans and designers in the Netherlands, UK, India, and USA to produce interdisciplinary design projects. Through innovative design skills, she aims to benefit the community in different ways by collaborating with individuals from different disciplines.
